8 DE MARZO: DÍA INTERNACIONAL DE LA MUJER.
La semana pasada con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer (IWD) el alumnado de 1º de Bachilerato trabajó el tema de “La igualdad de género” en clase de inglés.
En primer lugar el alumnado define el término feminismo y la mayor parte lo describe como una teoría que considera a hombres y mujeres iguales política, económica, social y culturalmente; mujeres y hombres ostentando los mismos derechos y disfrutando de las mismas oportunidades.
A continuación, se divide al alumnado en dos grupos y se les pide que escriban las ventajas de las que disfruta el sexo opuesto así como de los desafíos a los que se enfrenta. Con esta actividad se pretende desarrollar el pensamiento crítico, la empatía, la sensibilidad y el ponerse en la piel del otro para así poder entenderlo mejor.
Finalmente, se invita al alumnado a que proponga ideas para reducir la distancia entre los puntos de vista femeninos y los puntos de vista masculinos, en otras palabras, a promover la igualdad de género. Algunas de las ideas que surgen el aula son las que se detallan a continuación:
> El uso de lenguaje inclusivo.
> Se deberían promover campañas de concienciación para tratar este tema especialmente entre la gente más joven.
> Se debería trabajar para erradicar este problema a través de la educación y el desarrollo del pensamiento crítico.
> Se deberían celebrar los logros y éxitos de las mujeres.
> Se deberían visibilizar a mujeres que han contribuido a mejorar el mundo.
El alumnado disfrutó de la actividad.
8th of March: International Women’s Day.
Last week the 1st of Bachillerato students reflected on the subject “Gender equality”.
To begin with the lesson, the students were asked to define the term Feminism. Most of them defined the concept as: “a theory, one in which men and women believe in economic, political, social and cultural equality for all, women and men having the same rights and enjoying the same opportunities
To continue with, students were divided into small gender-based groups (groups of boys and groups of girls) and each group was asked to consider the benefits of being the opposite gender to what they are and write them down followed by the challenges of being the opposite gender and writing those down too. This activity aimed to promote critical thinking, empathy and the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes so that you are able to understand other people better and their points of view.
To conclude the activity, the students were invited to think about ideas to achieve gender parity and to reduce the gender gap. Some of the ideas the students came up with are as follows:
> We should all use inclusive language.
> We should make successful women visible.
> We should work to abolish this issue through the use of education and enhance critical thinking.
> We should promote campaigns that raise awareness of gender equality, especially to provide insight on this issue to younger populations.
> We should celebrate women’s achievements.
> We should eliminate stereotypes that do not consider men and women equal from TV and social networks.
The students enjoyed the activity.
